Updated Oct 10, 2026 · 4 links from the Radiant Optimizer list
Four of the links in the viral Radiant Optimizer list are Call of Duty zombies maps rebuilt to run in a browser tab. None of them is the original game: they are fan rebuilds that recreate the maps, the round-based waves and the starting M1911 loadout.
The good news is that all four load without game files or an installer, which makes zombies the easiest part of the list to actually play.
A landing page where you pick a zombies map. Kino der Toten is the featured map and the project also ships a separate page for Five. Everything runs in a browser tab; there is nothing to install.

Can you really play COD zombies in browser?
Yes. COD zombies in browser is the most reliable part of the whole Radiant Optimizer list. All four zombies links load straight into a tab, ask for no game files, and need no account. You click into the page, the browser captures your mouse, and the first round starts.
What you are playing is a fan rebuild, not Treyarch's code. The projects recreate the map layouts, the round structure, the points economy and the familiar starting loadout, but the engine, models and sound are web-native. That is why they load in seconds instead of asking for a 50 GB install, and why they feel lighter than the console originals.
The zombies maps you can play in a browser
Each link covers a different piece of zombies history. Here is what each one is based on, so you can pick the one you remember best.
Kino der Toten: the abandoned German theater that opened Black Ops (2010). The browser version is solo and lists its controls on screen, which makes it the best first pick.
Five: the Pentagon map from the same game. The BO1 landing page links to a separate Five page.
Nacht der Untoten and Der Riese: the World at War (2008) maps that started the mode. They appear on the BO1 map select screen.
Moon: the last Black Ops map, set on Griffin Station. The rebuild keeps the objective of restoring power and the Mystery Box hunt.
Cheese Cube: a Black Ops III custom map made with the community mod tools. It is the only zombies link on the list with co-op for up to four players.
How COD zombies runs in a browser tab
Modern browsers can draw 3D scenes through WebGL and run compiled game code through WebAssembly at close to native speed. A zombies rebuild uses both: the map geometry streams in as compressed assets, and the game logic runs locally on your machine. The server only hands over files; your own GPU does the rendering.
Two browser features matter for a shooter. Pointer Lock hides the cursor and turns mouse movement into aiming, which is why you have to click once before you can look around. Fullscreen (usually F11) removes the browser frame and helps frame pacing. If your mouse escapes the window mid-round, press Esc and click back in.
Best settings for COD zombies in browser
Use Chrome, Edge or Firefox on a desktop or laptop. Safari works for some maps but is less consistent with pointer lock.
Turn on hardware acceleration in your browser settings. Without it, WebGL falls back to the CPU and the game drops to single-digit frame rates.
Plug in your laptop. Many laptops switch to the integrated GPU on battery.
Close video tabs and other games. They compete for the same GPU.
If the frame rate is still low, shrink the browser window. Fewer pixels to draw is the quickest performance win in any browser game.
Strategy tips for the browser zombies maps
The rules follow the classic formula. You earn points for hits and kills, spend them on doors, wall weapons and the Mystery Box, and try to survive as many rounds as possible. Early rounds are about banking points: knife or shoot to the legs and finish with the knife to stretch your score. Repair barriers between waves for easy extra points.
Pick one area and learn a training route, a loop where you can lead a horde in a circle and shoot behind you. On Kino, the stage and the foyer both work. Buy a reliable wall weapon before you gamble on the Box, and keep a grenade for emergencies.
Is COD zombies in browser legal and safe?
The fan rebuilds do not ask you to download or install anything, so the security risk while playing is the same as any other website. The legal side is grayer: the maps recreate Activision-owned designs, and publishers can and do ask hosts to remove fan projects. That is why links on lists like this one disappear without warning. We check every link daily and mark dead ones on the full Radiant Optimizer games list.
If a site offering the same maps asks you to install a launcher or a browser extension, close it. None of the real projects need one. Our browser game safety guide lists the warning signs.
Tips before you play
Use a desktop browser with a mouse. Pointer lock (clicking into the game to capture the mouse) is required for aiming.
If the page sits on a black screen, wait 20–30 seconds. The maps stream in on first load and the servers are busy right now.
Cheese Cube is the only one with co-op. The others are solo runs.
FAQ
Is this the real Black Ops zombies?
No. These are fan rebuilds of the maps made for the web. They borrow the layout and the rules, not the original game code.
Do I need to own Black Ops?
Not for these four links. They load directly without asking for game files.
Which map should I try first?
Kino der Toten. It is the featured map on the BO1 landing page and has a clear on-screen control list.
How many rounds can I survive in the browser version?
There is no hard cap. As in the originals, rounds keep scaling until you go down. The maps simply get harder each wave.
Can I play COD zombies in browser with friends?
Only Cheese Cube supports co-op, for up to four players. Kino, Moon and the BO1 map select are solo.
Does COD zombies in browser work on Chromebook?
Usually, if the Chromebook has decent graphics. It needs WebGL and a mouse; touchpads make aiming hard.
